The associated galleries of EAST are proud to present the next iteration of Roath Gallery Weekend (RGW), the third edition.
The RGW, which runs 09-11 May, will see a varied and vibrant programme - with late night openings and special events scheduled throughout the weekend.
The galleries have coordinated events to complement their current exhibition - which range from photography, textile, painting, print and craft. The Friday will also see many venues staying open later than usual - and a number of exhibition launches, at Cardiff M.A.D.E, Celf Gallery and g39 - perfect for an evening of gallery-hopping.

In the evening, spring is celebrated at Cardiff M.A.D.E, with singing, folk tales and refreshments hosted by Dominique Fester. The various events continue over the Sunday - live music, a jewellery workshop and refreshments in several locations. This is the third collaborative event from the EAST galleries - following the success of the inaugural weekend held in May 2024 and a winter edition held last November. Our Spring Open Exhibition returns for 2025, featuring paintings, prints, photography, drawing, digital art & craft from over 80 artists based in South Wales.
The opening of this exhibition forms part of the EAST Spring Roath Gallery Weekend, and you can join us at M.A.D.E. from 6pm on Friday 09.05.25 for the exhibition launch.
Come and celebrate Spring with an evening of bawdy May Songs, and folk tales celebrating the rising sap, fertility and abundance of spring with singer-storyteller Dominique Fester.
Expect, laughter, silliness and to join in with a chorus or two to clear out those rusty wind pipes and bring a blush to the cheeks. This event will be gently and warmly participatory with the option of making and taking your own piece of corn craft home and the end.
All washed down with plenty of cheese and a glass of wine.
Join Mitra for a workshop embroidering felt earrings and hairclips in the traditions of Iranian Patteh.
Using traditional stitching techniques learnt from her grandmother in Iran, Mitra Freeman will show you how to create either a set of earrings or a brooch, taking sunshine and Spring flowers as inspiration for the designs.
The workshop will take place on Sunday 11.05.25 from 10am to 1pm @ Cardiff M.A.D.E. Materials and Refreshments all included in the ticket price.
