Our annual Spring Open Call for artists based in South Wales has returned for 2023. Our Spring Show is open to artists at any stage of their careers; whether established, emerging or aspiring.
The theme for this year's Spring Open is RESILIENCE; the tensions of survival on the margins of existence, from endangered species on the front line of climate change facing extinction and habitat loss, to seeing strength in changing or adapting to new realities.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for 2D work in any medium, including photography, prints, paintings, drawings, textile work, reliefs, or mixed media. Works can be up to 150cm in any direction.
Pricing guide: £50 - £3,000.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Entries must be submitted in line with the following guidelines below or they will not be considered. By submitting your work, you agree to our submission guidelines;
GENERAL RULES
- Artists must be based in Wales.
- Submitted work must be available for exhibition.
- Submitted work MUST be available for sale and to be sold exclusively via M.A.D.E for the duration of the exhibition.
- Any sales enquiries resulting from the gallery exhibition will be respected and passed through the gallery, on the same terms.
- Work must be ready to hang and/or framed if required - d-hooks with string/wire are preferable.
- Submissions must be sent with a completed form (download available below) to our submissions email - gallery@cardiffmade.com
- Email subject should read;
''SPRING OPEN CALL ENTRY 2023 - ARTIST NAME'.
- Submission fee must be paid in conjunction with your entry.
CONFIRMATION OF ENTRY
- A confirmation email will be sent to mark receipt of entry on receiving a submission email with payment.
- Exhibiting Artists will be announced on 19.04.23.
- The 2023 Spring Show will open on 06.05.23 and run until 04.06.23.
RESTRICTIONS TO THE DIMENSIONS / MEDIUM OF WORK
- Artwork can be in any medium though all works must be 2D.
- All works must be original pieces or limited edition prints.
- All pieces must be framed or ready for hanging with mirror plates / string / french cleat / batons ect.
- Maximum width / height of works is 150 cms.
- We are asking for a maximum of 3 submissions per artist.
- For further questions regarding the eligibility of pieces, contact the gallery.
PRICING & FEES
- We charge a nominal fee for all our open calls to cover the administration costs of running the exhibition. It is £15 per artist for this exhibition. The exhibition fee is non-refundable and must be included with your submission.
- You can pay the submission fee via our online shop or arrange payment by contacting the gallery.
- All works submitted must be priced & available for purchase. If you are having difficulty pricing your work, submit pieces with a guide price and a final price can be worked out with the gallery.
- Cardiff M.A.D.E has a commission rate of 40% for the sale of all artwork - please factor this into the pricing of your work.

FORMAT GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION IMAGES
- Images must be sent as attachments - NOT in the body of the email.
- Images must be file type .jpg.
- Images must be of a good resolution i.e. 300dpi, Resolution: 3mb - 10mb
- All images should be named with all information in the following format: ARTIST NAME,
TITLE,
MEDIUM,
DIMENSIONS,
PRICE.jpg

Yes, we charge a non-refundable fee for all our open calls to support the administrative costs associated with the exhibition. The cost is £15 per artist and is available to buy on our online shop here. Submission fee must be included with your entry.

Work must be available for sale during the exhibition and through MADE only. Any sales inquiries through the gallery after the exhibition will follow the same process.
You will need to include a guide price for your work, factoring in our 40% commission rate. If you are unsure of how to price your work, a final price can be discussed with the gallery at a later date.
Cardiff MADE has a 40% commission rate. You will need to take this into account when pricing your work.
Yes, you will receive an email to confirm that your submission has been received.
