Launched specifically as part of the 2022 MADE gallery programme with the idea to entice and welcome audiences back into the gallery and engage with live arts and events, the ‘Live Arts Response Team’ is a team of arts practitioners, sound artists and filmmakers coming from different disciplines to create unique live events for small audiences.
Artist contributors have been invited to form a group tailored to respond to three exhibitions within this years programme: 'Otherworlds', 'Mutable' and 'Art of The Table'. This group artists are tasked with shaping durational pieces for small episodes, a combination of vignettes or moments that are choreographed or played over time and across the geography of the gallery space.

We're very excited to present this one-off evening of performed durational works inspired by the large felt installation by Ruth Packham on display in the exhibition ‘Mutable’, as a live event featuring music, animation and dance.
Choreographer/performer Zosia Jo, Lara Ward, Jodi Ann Nicholson, filmmaker Dom Farelli and Musician Chris Young have come together for the second Live Arts Response Team project of 2022; with funding from the CREATE project strand from the Arts Council of Wales, they will present the culmination of weeks of conversation and responses, crafted into a unique event in the form of performance, music and visuals.

L'A.R.T. members Teddy Hunter, Tess Wood, Beth Greenhalgh and Rachel Helena Walsh came together for the very first Live Arts Response Team event on 11/03/22 to present the culmination of weeks of conversation & playful responses, crafted into a unique event that utilised sound, actions and spoken word.
The event was captured using a combination of CCTV, go pro and other sources with a mixed picture and sound feed assembled live by sound and vision maestro Joe Marvelly.
This event was achieved with funding from the CREATE project strand from the Arts Council of Wales.

Daeth aelodau L'A.R.T. Teddy Hunter, Tess Wood a Rachel Helena Walsh at ei gilydd ar gyfer digwyddiad cyntaf Tîm Ymateb y Celfyddydau Byw ar 11/03/22 i gyflwyno penllanw wythnosau o sgwrsio ac ymatebion chwareus, a luniwyd yn ddigwyddiad unigryw a ddefnyddiodd sain, gweithredoedd a'r gair llafar.
Cafodd y digwyddiad ei recordio gan ddefnyddio cyfuniad o deledu cylch cyfyng, go pro a ffynonellau eraill gyda llun cymysg a phorthiant sain wedi'i osod yn fyw gan y maestro sain a gweledigaeth Joe Marvelly.
Cyflawnwyd y digwyddiad hwn gyda chyllid gan ffrwd prosiect CREATE gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru.

Gaia is an Italian artist based in Cardiff. She works as a performer, movement director and facilitator. Her background is in ballet and contemporary dance and fine art and art history. She has a BA in Contemporary Dance and has also trained as an actor. Gaia works as a freelance practitioner for NDCWales, Kitsch’n’Sync, WNO, and Jack Phi

Kitsch n Sync are a performance collective founded by Kylie Ann Smith and Kim Noble, with backgrounds in dance and choreography as well as street theatre and cabaret. They devise, create and work with directors, theatre companies and arts organisations alongside their own projects and have a strong repertoire of satirical and funny characters who bring situations to life.
Edith is an artist and filmmaker who combines animations, found material and analog processes into both 2D and 3D work - making visuals music, live performance and film. Her video work usually revolves around the use of a green screen to create layers of animation which are then layered up to create video collages.
Jodi is a mixed-race: British/Afro Caribbean dance and visual artist based in South Wales. Training in contemporary dance at TrinityLaban and exploring Fine Art in Cardiff School of Art and Design her practice plays with multiple disciplines. When looking at her practice through a focused lens Jodi’s work is about understanding the impact of past and place on her identity; when looking at her creative practice through a wide lens, Jodi’s work is about community, identity, home and belonging. She seeks to work with people and hold conversations that are relevant to them in relation to community, identity, home and belonging; with the aim to connect and celebrate the communities that we live in. Recent works include: STREAMS a collaboration with writer Jaffrin Khan as part of NDCWales and Literature Wales Plethu commission, HIVE choreographed by June Campbell-Davies and community project: Barry Community Quilt “stitching the community together”.

Kim Noble trained at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and is a freelance dance artist based in Cardiff, South Wales. Since graduating she has performed for many different projects and companies such as; Fluer Darkin & Tom Sapsford, Nigel Charnock & Jo Fong, Paul Gazzola with International Dance Festival Birmingham, Marc Brew with Velcro Dance, Curious Company & Sean Tuan John- Bombastic Dance Company. As well as ‘Kitsch & Sync’, Kim also choreographs her own projects, as well as working with collaborators, such as electronic band Cotton Wolf and 4Pi Productions creating ‘Liminality’ -a 360 degree dance film bringing together Wales and India which also toured to Montreal. Kim also teaches and choreographs regularly for Dance Blast and recently Kim has been dancing for Untold Dance Theatre, Caroline Sabin and Ballet Nimba. At the core of Kim’s practice is a passion for creating for, performing for and engaging with audiences of all backgrounds and ages in contemporary dance that is exciting and performed in non-traditional situations.

Rachel Helena Walsh is an Irish Artist, Performer and Poet living in Wales. Her work varies from Live Art to Clowning with a current focus on death, exchange and the human condition.

Lara toured theatre extensively as a performer in award winning productions with Earthfall Dance, (2008 - 2015), in site-located productions; Caroline Sabin (In Pursuit of Maud, Mysterious Maud and her Fantastical Chambers of Truth, Blood on the Snow, LifeDeathLife - theatre tour), Light, Ladd and Emberton (Danfona Ddawns with Saxophonist Paul West, Croesi Traeth), National Theatre Wales ({150}, Branches:The Nature of Crisis), Mr and Mrs Clark (BaZerkus), Kitsch 'n Sync (Please Mr Postman, Mobile Library Ladies, Rukus), Beth Powlesland (Keep off the grass - Tactile Bosch installation), Theatr Iolo (Am I Dreaming - theatre tour), Sean Tuan John (Make Me Magnificent), Javier de Frutos, Gary and Pel, Run Ragged Theatre. Lara performed with Jo Fong for Ways of Being Together in London, Hull and Cardiff. Lara has an ongoing multi-disciplinary collaboration with experimental sound and media artist Sion Orgon.
Lara’s regular practice is many things, across many groups. As a performer and mother, embodying maternal mental health through performance and creative exploration in Aleksandra Jones’ Gravida Project. As a creative producer with Groundwork Pro, fundraising to support professional development for movement artists, and with Motion Control Dance in the Vale of Glamorgan, fundraising and delivering arts in health projects for older adults. With over 20 years experience working across Wales, England and Poland, Lara teaches in education, residencies, events and community. At the heart of her facilitation is sharing her joy of finding freedom through movement and supporting people to develop confidence in their own creativity.

They are looking to uncover the limitless combinations of ways we can re-connect with ourselves, our bodies and the spaces we inhabit, and how this can develop deeper, more intuitive relationships. Their current research looks at how embodiment practices and use of character analysis can help us explore relationships with self and others, highlighting questions around gender, sexuality and whiteness.
